Key Management

Gary A. Swanson, PE, President/CEO, has more than 28 years of professional experience, including over 20 years in ownership and senior management positions at companies dedicated to energy auditing and consulting. Swanson founded EMS in January 2005 as a spin-off of U. S. Energy Services of Wayzata, Minnesota, where he served as vice president of energy demand management. Throughout his career, he has conducted or overseen more than 10,000 facility audits, saving clients more than $600,000,000 in energy costs. He is a frequent presenter and conference speaker on energy-related topics, earning a national reputation for his expertise in this dynamic industry.

  • Served as a principal and president of Energy & Environmental Consulting Engineers of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and principal and vice president of Associated Consultants Engineers of Plymouth, Minnesota
  • Licensed as a professional engineer in Minnesota, Iowa and Ohio
  • Member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
  • Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota

Mark Goudreault, Senior Energy Engineer, has 6 years of engineering experience working within the energy industry throughout the US.  Mark has a background in industrial energy efficiency audits and has been a Key Technical Expert providing product information operating training.

  • Experience working with the Industrial Assessment Center and Anemometer Loan Program provided by the Department of Energy

AJ Butterfield, Energy Engineer, has 2 years of engineering experience working in the renewable energy sector of the US Energy Industry.  AJ conducted energy and solar assessments during his undergraduate in Duluth, MN.

  • Obtained minors in Environmental Engineering and Energy Engineering

Kelly Rogers, Vice President of Operations, brings more than 30 years of experience in marketing, purchasing, project management, information technology, and systems administration.  Has 8 years of energy management experience in conservation improvement projects, Energy Star management, benchmarking, rebate administration and State reporting for serveral utility companies.  Works with all staff to ensure office operations are at the highest standard.

Delane Wetterlin, Operations Coordinator, brings more than 20 years of administrative support experience to our team.  Delane's focus is helping EMS continue to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

Strategic Public Partners (SPP), is a national full-service public affairs, public relations, government relations and issues management firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.

Kevin Schmidt, VP of Government Relations for Strategic Public Partners, manages SPP's government affairs department representing the firm's clients in front of the Ohio General Assembly and Executive Branch. He helps clients identify, monitor and act on issues before the legislature and state agencies representing some of the firm's largest clients.  Most of Kevin's government relations work focuses on the fields of energy, manufacturing and technology.

  • Served as a lead Ohio Statehouse lobbyist for the Ohio Manufacturers' Association for nearly 8 years
  • Was instrumental in the founding of the Ohio Manufacturers' Association's Energy Group, the only statewide energy group dedicated to representing all sizes and types of manufacturing before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio
  • Led a coalition of business groups in the passage of Ohio's most significant re-write of the State's Clean Air Act with S.B. 265 in 2006, streamlining Ohio's regulatory system while remaining protective of air quality
  • Graduated with a B.A. in Public Policy Studies from Duke University
  • Earned his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School and is a member of the Columbus Bar Association and Ohio Bar Association

Titan Energy Worldwide, Inc. (TEWI), is a publicly traded company that combines engineering expertise, established sales and distributorships, service operation and unique strategy partnership to meet the growing demand in the US and worldwide for clean, efficient energy solutions.  TEWI is headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Jeffrey W. Flannery, CEO and Director, has served as TEWI's Chairman of the Board since December 15, 2005 and CEO since July 2009.

  • Prior to working at TEWI, Jeffrey was the founder and CEO of Enhanced Information Systems, Inc., an online home health care provider for the pharmacy industry
  • He served as the Vice President of Development for IUSA, an information technology company
  • Was the Vice President of Corporation Communications for Center for Special Immunology, a public company dedicated to medical treatments for immune disorders
  • Received his BA in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles

Robert G. Hoerauf, President of Hoerauf Consulting Inc. - Rob is an Electrical Infastructure Consultant with 25 years of experience in the design, project management and start-up of electrical, energy and generation projects for industrial, municipal and utility customers.

  • Experienced designer of substation, transmission, and renewable energy systems
  • Registered professional engineer in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa
  • Serves on several national standards committees for the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
  • 14 years of experience as a manager of the Power Systems Group for Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc.
  • 13 years as a regional engineering manager for Westinghouse Electric

Ohio Energy Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (OEAMC), is a R&D center currently specializing in the full commercialization of High Velocity Metal Forming (HVMF) technologies headquartered in Lima, Ohio.

Judith M. Cowan, President and CEO for OEAMC, since 2005, facilities collaborations and joint venture agreements for companies who are involved in manufacturing in Ohio.
  • Before her time with OEAMC, Judy served at the pleasure of three Ohio Governors as their Governor's Regional Representative for thirteen years.
  • She entered state politics after 22 years in the banking industry were she was the VP of the Bank of Leipsic Co.
  • She has also served as Mayor of the Village of Leipsic, and during her administration, the Village welcomed US Steel, IAMS Pet Foods and POET Ethanol into the community where they jointly invested over a half a billion dollars in new brick and mortar facilities within an 8-year period.

Theodore D'Williams, Engineering Partner, has been working with both commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects over the past four years. His experience includes calculating energy savings, cost estimates, performing site inspections and audits.  He has supported multiple utility incentive programs, as well as public agencies such as local governments, institutions and other municipalities.  Theodore also has experience in renewable energies (solar).  Prior to his energy efficiency experience, he worked in academia as a chemist, performing wet chemistry experimentation and analysis, and nano particle research.
